2016 EPYSA State Cup: On to the Quarterfinals!

April 2, 2016 — Today, the FC Montco Die Mannschaft boys pulled out a last minute win against a gutsy and well-organized Philly Coppa team in their first step towards the 2016 EPYSA State Cup (NCS). With today's win, Die Mannschaft are through to the quarterfinals. See the full bracket here (PDF).

Missing three regular starters, Montco's coaches were forced to juggle the lineup. Asking leading striker Ryan Wallace to man the center of the defense in replacement of Die Mannschaft's captain and starting center back, Ethan Rodgers. After a couple of early opportunities, Ryan and the Montco defense shut down Coppa in the second half, allowing not a single shot on goal.

The standout defensive play kept Philly Coppa locked in their own half as Montco pushed to win the game in regulation. With less than a minute left to play, Logan Schwartz served in a cross from a set piece that Vincent Delisi, who earlier in the half had struck the crossbar on a similar play, made certain this time that the ball would find nothing but the back of the net.

Next up? Quarterfinals against an opponent TBD.

APC Premier Cup Co-Champions Vault Die Mannschaft to No. 7 in US

March 6, 2016 — Congratulations to our U16 boys on being Co-Champions in the Red (1st) division of the APC Premier Cup this weekend!

The boys opened the weekend on Friday night with a 4-0 Friday night win over Marylands 6th-ranked Severna Park Fury. Saturday, the boys emerged victorious from a 1-0 battle, dispatching the 12th-ranked team in the nation and Virginia No. 2 Braddock Road Youth Club 99 Elite.

The Die Mannschaft boys headed into Sundays finale 2-0, facing off against Marylands 3rd-ranked Baltimore Celtic SC Christos 99/00 team, also 2-0. Both teams entered the match having scored 6 goals and held their opponents scoreless.

The match more than lived up to the advance billing. Our FC Montco boys took an early 1-0 lead, holding the Baltimore Celtic team in check. However, with 7 minutes to go, the Christos broke through and drew even. The frantic final minutes werent enough to separate the sides and the two teams were crowned Co-Champions!

With the win, the Die Mannschaft boys maintained their #1 ranking in Pennsylvania and jumped up to the become the 7th-ranked team in the nation! Congratulations on another fantastic win!
