2020 Winter Academy Has Begun

January 2020, All Sports Center, Trappe - The boys are back on the turf for Winter Academy again with our DOC, Coach Andy Wilkes. Coach Andy’s sessions focus on quality technique and touches, while staying fit during the offseason. Training sessions are dynamic and skill based, while leaving plenty of time to finish with fast paced scrimmage play. Coach Andy even gets in on the action sometimes. Winter and Spring Academy is open to any player from the club or the regional area looking to their training to the next level. Please contact Coaches Steve Orcutt, Colleen Wolf, or Chris Lake if you would like to come out to a practice and check us out!

MUSC 2008 Boys Serve Flapjacks and Smiles Once Again

January 2020, Applebee’s Trooper location - Our boys were hard at work bright and early for our 2nd annual Flapjack Fundraiser with Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar! Thanks to all of our friends and family for a fantastic turnout, and to the kids that did an awesome job. Players from Wolverines, Flash, and Vision teamed up for greeting guests, serving up breakfast and raising funds for Winter and Spring League play. Many thanks to our volunteer parents for helping out in the kitchen, and to all of those that worked to get the word out and sell tickets. Also, thanks to Miss Liz, her wonderful staff, and Applebee’s organization for helping with this awesome fundraiser!! It was a fun and filling time. Thank you and we hope to see you next year!

Great win to start the Winter 1 indoor season!

November 15, 2019 - The MUSC Wolverines 3 - 2 FC Europa Boys Premier Red. What an exciting and beautifully played game by each one of these boys!

Honoring Mrs. Pileggi

October 21, 2019 - Today the U12B Wolverines honored Helene Pileggi for Breast Cancer Awareness month. The boys and coaches wore pink and presented Helene with flowers prior to our game.

Another Strong Showing at Battle of the Hilltop!

August 2019, Limerick - Continuing in the Hilltop tradition for their third year in a row, the Wolverines were feeling good and ready to play. After opening up with a win over rivals YMS Fury 2-0, that confidence was on full display. During the break, the Wolverines had a blast at MUSC HQ hanging out with friends from the Vision, and even engaging in a little friend competition with our neighbor club, Coventry. Soon enough, it was time for the second game, a hard fought draw (3-3) against Boyertown. The action was back and forth, with Boyertown eeking out a last second goal to avoid the loss. Sunday’s action was just as intense, with the Wolverines earning another point against FC Delco in a draw and putting up a heroic effort against Lower Merion Bobcats, the eventual champions. Improving to 1-2-1 in the Premier division shows how much the boys have grown since last year. All in all it was a great August for the team, and a lot of fun! “Wolverines on three! Wolverines on me! 1-2-3….Wolverines!”

Into the breach once again! Wolverines return to Penn Fusion Summer Classic...

August 2019, West Chester - Seeing their first action of the tournament season, the Wolverines debut at WCSC/Penn Fusion saw them develop both team chemistry and friendships.  The opening game against FC Brandywine Elite set the tone as our boys went up early 1-0.  For 50 minutes the boys defended valiantly, with numerous saves from our keepers Vance and Nick “Steve”. Unfortunately, a last minute corner earned FCB the tie. Game 2 vs. Penn Fusion was more physcial, with both teams playing hard to a 2-2 draw. Although out of the running for the final with only 2 points earned, our Wolverines were determined to make PA Classics earn their berth into the championship. Deferring KO, the boys pressed hard from the whistle. Forcing the errant pass and interception resulted in a 1-0 lead within the first minute of play! A PK and laser shot from outside the box put the Wolverines up at halftime 3-0. The second half saw an angry PA Classics squad come out hot, clawing their way back. The boys held on with a fearless save from our keeper Vance to shut down play and save an undefeated weekend! Fantastic job, boys!

Wolverines debut at 422 Sportsplex for Indoor Soccer!

February 2019, Pottstown - The boys spent this winter at the 422 Sportsplex competing in the U11/U12 indoor league. It was fast paced action with the boys finishing 3-2-1 against local competition such as Boyertown, Phoenixville, and Coventry. At Methacton we believe that Winter ball should not focus on the final result, but instead foster chemistry, maintain fitness, and above all be about having fun. By encouraging quick decision making and speed of play, it’s also a great way to keep getting those touches over the offseason!

Wolverines and Flash Serve Flapjacks and Smiles!

Jan 2019, Trooper - Flapjacks and sausages were the order of the day, as the boys served friends and family at Applebee’s Neighborhood grill and bar this past Saturday. It was a busy and fun morning, seating customers, taking orders, and serving up breakfast to hungry customers to raise money for our alternative pink kits and Spring league. Many thanks to the wonderful staff, especially Miss Liz for her time training the boys for success! Many thanks as well to all of our friends and family that worked to see tickets for this fundraiser. Most of all, thanks to the boys that did a wonderful job all morning, but still found time breakfast and a few laughs. We can’t wait for next year!!

EDP Fall Season Comes to a Close!

Late Fall 2018, Heebner Park - Sporting their pink October kits, the Wolverines found themselves finishing the Fall leg of their EDP season within the friendly confines. Having spent the past couple of months growing into 9v9, the boys settled well into a 3-4-1 formation. After an 0-2 start, 6 undefeated matches had the boys’ confidence sky high! That confidence, and creative play led to a decisive 3-0 win to close out the Fall as division finalists. We couldn’t be more proud of their growth this season as players, and strength as a team! And many thanks to our fantastic parents for their amazing dedication and support to make it happen!

Wolverines Embark on Inaugural Season in EDP

September 2018, Bucks County - This Fall our boys started the next phase of their soccer adventure entering the Eastern Development Program as U11 (9v9). Having faced stiff competition from Marlton SC and Yardley-Makefield, week 3 found our boys facing off against familiar foes, Buckingham United Green. Dealing with the late summer heat and physical play, the Wolverines went toe-to-toe with BU and came away with a hard fought decision, 2-2. Great job boys, and good luck with the rest of the season!

Wolverines return to Battle of the Hill Top - Limerick, PA

August 2018 - Debuting their new kits and joined by new teammates and old friends, the Wolverines returned for their second year at Hilltop. On day one, their skills and creative play were one full display, beating Valley 3-0. It was a very different game two. Against Boyertown United, it was a physical battle and the Wolverines found themselves down 0-2 at half. They settled down and answered the challenge in the second half, just falling short with a 1-2 result. The boys finished the weekend out against Penn Fusion on Day 3. It was a weekend that tested their mettle, but the boys showed hear and grit working hard to the final whistle. Great work, Wolverines!

Congratulations to Nicholas Trigone for joining the Philadelphia Union!

June 2018 - It is bittersweet as once again one of our boys starts the next phase of his soccer career. Nicholas has joined the Philadelphia Pre Academy. Nicholas has been part of the Methacton family since the boys started playing together in DDP.  With his shock of blonde hair, contagious grin, and wicked right strike, Nicholas will be dearly missed at Heebner this summer, and on gamedays this Fall.

We hope that Nicholas will always keep a place in his heart for MUSC, and look to get him back together with his teammates for some fun on the field whenever we can. For now, we wish him all the best for the 2018-2019 season. Congratulations, Nicholas! Keep up the great work and have fun!

Winter Futsal for the 2008 MUSC Boys

January 2018 - After fun Fall seasons in Central League, the boys started weekly futsal training for the first time under DOC, Coach Andy Wilkes. Traditionally meant to improve technical skills and encourage creative play, Coach Andy led fast and furious joint sessions for the 2008 boys. The training paid off for our Wolverines as they went 8-2 in UK Elite Futsal league in Lower Merion, finishing as finalists after losing a tough 2-1 match to GVCSA! Way to go boys!

Wolverines wrap up their season at (chilly!) 2017 HSC Welsh Cup - Haverford, PA

November 2017 - After a season in Central League Tier 1 that saw the boys go 7-2, our boys faced off against familiar foes Haverford Red Storm and LMSC Bobcats.  After a 4-2 win over Harleysville, things seemed to be going our way. Unfortunately, a late goal by Haverford denied the Wolverines the decision. Although they hung tough for most of the game, the result against LMSC was the same. However, that didn’t really dampen the boy’s spirits. They had played well on a challenging day! Everyone braved the cold to watch the boys give Coach Steve a truly touching keepsake for the season, and (making it even “sweeter”) celebrate Giovanni’s birthday. What a season to remember!

Wolverines are Finalists at 2017 YMS Columbus Day Cup - Yardley, PA

October 2017 - Sporting their pink jerseys for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Wolverines had a fun-filled Columbus Day Weekend! A mist covered pitch awaited the boys for their early morning start against Penn Athletics. They took shots early and often, besting the Patriots (3-0).

After grabbing lunch and hamming it up for the camera, it was back to work. In a GREAT matchup versus YMS Gray, the boys won another one, 2-1.

Heading into Day 2, confidence was riding high—and the Wolverines needed every bit of it to get by Solebury (2-1), to set up the final with Buckingham United Blue. It was a tough game that saw some wild goals, but our boys never gave up, narrowing the lead to 5-3. But in the end, BU came away with the championship. Exhausted, but proud of their play for the weekend, the Wolverines earned their Finalist trophies. Great work, boys!

Gabriel Serra Accepted to the Philadelphia Union Academy!

June 2017 - This Fall, the U10 boys will be missing a familiar face at Heebner Park. Having been with our MUSC family in the DDP program under Coach Andy Wilkes, Gabriel is starting a new and exciting phase of his soccer career as a member of the Union Pre-Academy. This new program is made up of players from around the region, and helps identify those for the Union Academy starting at U12.

We are extremely proud of Gabriel, and all he has accomplished. There is no doubt, though, that the Wolverines will miss his skill and love of the game. We hope that wherever soccer takes Gabe, he will remember us here at MUSC. And you never know when we may see him again….we’d love to have him come back and play at a tournament or in the off season. Please join us in congratulating Gabe and wishing him all the best for the 2017-2018 season!

WCSC U10 Finalists

U10 Boys MUSC Wolverines reach finals at West Chester Summer Classic

August 6, 2017 - The MUSC U10 Boys MUSC Wolverines had a very strong showing at their first tournament of the season, reaching the finals. Time and time again our boys lifted each other up over the weekend when they were down, including getting level from an 0-2 deficit during the final to the Towemencin Thunder. In a heartbreaker, the Thunder earned the victory and championship on PKs. But that didn’t change the fact that it was a great weekend of courage, character, and fun for the team.  Outstanding work boys!

2008 Boys Begin their Second Year of Travel Soccer

March 2017 - As the 2008 age group enters their second year of travel soccer, it is an exciting time. We expect the core of our age group to consist of players coming from our Director’s Development Program, a progressive curriculum led by our Director of Coaching, Andy Wilkes. Under Andy’s guidance development of individual skills, confidence, and a love of the game are emphasized over winning. Starting at an early age, players are able to gain a unique understanding of the game through equal playing time and at every position.

November 2016 It was

November 2016 - It was a chilly and blustery Fall afternoon in Radnor, as the Wolverines wound down their season in Central League Tier 1. Our boys came from behind to earn a 3-3 tie against the Samba in a game that was a blast to watch! After having gone 7-3-8 for their first travel season in mixed divisional play in Central League, it was bittersweet to have things coming to an end. Coupled with tournament play, it was a fun and busy season with Tier 1 providing challenge, and Tier 3 fostering development. But there’s always Winter Academy with Coach Andy to look forward to after the break!

Al Perlini Memorial Tournament Winners

September 3, 2016 - Let’s hear it for our 2008 boys, going undefeated and winning their division at this year’s Al Perlini Memorial Tournament! Our boys started the morning strong with gutsy victories over Delaware Union (5-4) and CHYSC (4-3). During a well deserved break the boys showed off their patches, shared some laughes, and dodged bees (Yikes!). It was back to the pitch with a tighter defense and a red hot offense in the afternoon, with a 6-2 win over PA Rush. That left the final matchup against Boyertown SC Union. With the score knotted at the half 2-2, fantastic play from our keeper held the Union in check, as MUSC put it away with a 5-2 victory! This was a great way for the kids to cap off a fun tournament season, before kicking off their first travel season. Great work, boys!
