U15G Methacton United Force Advance to Quarterfinals

The U15G Methacton United Force advanced to the quarterfinals of the Pennsylvania State Challenge Cup this weekend with a shutout win over Lionville on Saturday and an exciting 3-3 tie with PA Classics Premier on Sunday.

On Saturday the Force were led by Madia Mazzucola who worked her way into the danger area when she was grabbed from behind and got a penalty called on Lionville, Madia took the PK and blasted it into the left side netting for the 1-0 win over Lionville. Goalkeepers Cara Marquardt and Allyson Frey teamed up for the shutout win behind the fierce Force defense featuring Izzy LeGendre, Morgan Richardson, Raelyn Lumley, Kaitlyn Porta, Danielle Hollidge and Katherine Jaworski.

On Sunday the Force needed a tie or a win to move on to the quarterfinals. They took a 2-0 lead over PA Classics into halftime on goals by Marissa Grasso and Madia Mazzucola. After the half PA Classics poured on the pressure and took a 3-2 lead. But Kiera Thomas told her coach before she went in, "We Got This" and the Force "literally" moved up the slanted field and got the ball to Kiera who slotted the game-tying goal to propel the Force on to the next round of the playoffs. Congratulations to the Force and keep it rolling!
