April 7, 2019 -- The grass at Heebner Park was green, the fields were lined and (at least for a while) the sun was shining, making it a perfect day to open the spring soccer season. And the Flash showed they have a flair for the dramatic, registering a 1-0 win over Phoenixville that came right down to the wire.
In a back-and-forth game that featured a few good chances at each end of the pitch, the key play came on a corner kick in the last minute of play. Christian, a call-up from the 2009 Legends team, rose to the occasion and knocked in a well-placed corner kick from Tyler, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Charlie and Josh, another 2009 Legends call-up, combined for the clean sheet in goal, with a big assist from the strong defense in front of them.
The Flash were clearly eager to get the spring season underway, as the team’s hustle was on full display. Players were sprinting all over the field to win loose balls or keep the ball inbounds. The Flash will look to keep the good times rolling Sunday in Pottstown against Coventry SA.
